Recent School Website Launches: Heating Things Up

We haven't blogged about our recently launched websites since March. Between the excitement of FinalsiteU and the release of dozens of new products — including a new eNotify editor — there was just so much to talk about.

So, we have a bit of housekeeping to take care of — and just in time, too. Because things are really heating up in deployment. And it's not because of this non-stop heatwave. It's because it is back-to-school time, and our schools have launched (or are planning to launch) some pretty amazing websites just in time for the new admissions season.

The Haverford School

Every now and then when a website launches it feels as though the school read every best practice blog in preparation for launch, making their website is a case-in-point example of The Website Redesign Playbook. The Haverford School's new site just happens to have this essence.

The homepage alone possesses so many important characteristics:
  • Below the school name, in plain text, they share who they serve — improving SEO efforts and the user experience
  • There is a clear value proposition: The Haverford Difference panel pinpoints what sets their school apart
  • There are clear calls to action in the footer and header making that next step easy

Aside from the homepage, there were some really good marketing and admission strategies sprinkled throughout. For example the call to action on this Why All Boys Page is brilliant because it addresses a specific target audience with a short, yet impactful, value proposition.

Their blog, The Big Room, is content marketing gold. Combining the voices of faculty and students with the big and small photos makes the content easy-to-scan, while telling an engaging story.

In addition to great site-wide content strategy, their tuition page is perfect. It sells value by incorporating videos and testimonials, before sharing the tuition — a strategy every school needs to follow.

St. Sebastian's Preparatory School

Great branding. Great design. Great marketing.

Beginning with that big, bold value proposition beneath the homepage slider, down to the elegant detail of the crossed arrows throughout the site, St. Sebastian's Preparatory School is an example of a school who is completely honed in on who they are as a brand, and who their target audience is — no questions asked.

One of the site's most well thought-out pages is their main admissions page, as well as their Why St. Sebastian's page. With virtually no text, five videos featuring a different perspective, an infographic, and numerous calls-to-action providing all prospective families with a logical next step based on their point in the applicant journey, this admissions page is a serious home run.

Both the Academic and Athletic pages follow a similar approach, beginning each page with a quote, rather than a curated statement from the marketing team. This sincere and genuine approach to website content really sets St. Sebastian's apart because no other competing school can say the same thing. It's real and personable — and that makes all the difference.
