Pubs

Bertha’s Mussels: A Baltimore institution. Live music at 9. Good food.

The Horse You Came in On: Live music almost every night. Bar food.

Slainte: Yes, an Irish pub — But a good one. Irish music on Tuesday nights.

The Brewer’s Art: Elegant upstairs and cooler, dark basement with house made Belgian-style brews & upscale New American eats in a former townhouse. Delish.

The Owl Bar : Despite its opulent entrance, this historic former speakeasy turned old-world bar in the basement of Mount Vernon's Belvedere Hotel has a low-key vibe, though brick walls studded with stained glass still make for an elegant.

Crabs!

No seafood lover’s trip to Baltimore is complete without picking some crabs, or at least eating some crab cakes.

  • Grab some crabs at Nick’s Fish House (on the water) or L.P. Steamer’s (not quite on the water, but close). This is the most Baltimore-y eating experience you can have! Very messy.
  • Crabcakes at Koco's Pub - If you want to go on a pilgrimage the best crab cake that’s actually served at dinner. You’ll need to taxi/Uber here. Neighborhood bar vibe. Awesome, giant crabcakes and pub food.
