Updates to Posts and eNotify, early reminder about End of Year rollover procedures

Finalsite U is fast approaching in June, which means that we're hard at work on all the new features and software that we're eager to debut this summer. In the meantime though, we're still developing our existing software, rolling out updates and patching bugs. This week's Software Update primarily targets the Posts module, as well as fixing an issue with eNotify templates.

Spring time also means that it's almost time for the big End of Year data rollover. Support will be reaching out with an Admin Notice on your sites next week to remind you to schedule a request for End of Year service. We'll send along some guideline documentation, including special instructions for Enhanced LMS users, to help you plan and implement your rollover.

Finally, we're currently working on some additional site security measures around content from your site that is shared on another site via an iFrame. I'll have more for you on that in our next post, this is just a heads-up. You won't need to do anything to your site or your files, but it'll be helpful to have a list of any websites that feature your own site's content. (This does not include social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter, but rather other individual websites that use iFrames to feature your content.) We'll also be in touch about this via our next blog post here, as well as an Admin Notice when you login.

We've got this update scheduled to run between 6:00 and 8:00 EDT on Saturday, April 29, so look for these changes to go live on your site this weekend.

Posts

  • Posts that are assigned to a Collection will retain their "target" information, so that when users are logged in, those posts will only be visible in Collections to members of the role(s) they are targeted at. (Posts in Collections are always public, meaning that all posts in the Collection are visible to users who aren't logged into the site. Targeting posts works best when Collections are displayed on internal pages.)
  • We've also updated the visual style on the Post creation page to clarify the categories and tags assigned to a post.

eNotify

  • We fixed an issue that was hiding the template editor in cloned messages created from templates that had since been deleted. Going forward, if a template is deleted or updated, emails made from that template can still be cloned without causing errors.
