Product Designer (UI/UX)

Position Summary

Finalsite, a leading provider of school website solutions and services, is seeking to hire a self-motivated, team-oriented Product Designer with a passion for solving problems and designing outstanding software solutions focused on user experience.
As part of the Development Team, the Product Designer will work collaboratively with a team of product managers, software developers and quality assurance testers, designing and presenting wireframes and mockups. The Product Designer’s responsibilities include doing market and user research to determine customer needs and preferences, using rough sketches as well as design software for detailed mockups, and helping maintain a consistent design across web applications and iOS/Android applications.
This is a full-time position in a friendly, fun, and fast-paced environment with a company headquartered in Glastonbury, Connecticut. All employees are currently remote, with 25% permanently remote, world-wide -- remote designers are welcome. Please present a portfolio of recent work, along with your resume. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups for development of products
  • Provide UI/UX guidance for product features
  • Effectively communicate product ideas and concepts 
  • Conduct research to enable informed, data-driven product design decisions
  • Improve ADA compliance in all aspects of the platform
  • Maintain living design system in Sketch or Figma
  • Coordinate web and iOS/Android design implementations with developers
  • Continually work on improving existing product designs
  • Stay current in industry trends and market conditions

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Web Design, User Experience Design, Interactive Design, Human Computer Interaction, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of professional experience producing wireframes, prototypes, and mockups
  • Experience using tools such as Sketch, Figma, or InDesign
  • Experience designing feature-rich, responsive websites; ideally experience designing large-scale SaaS applications or content management systems

  • Present and discuss design decisions to various team members and departments
  • Understand UI/UX designs for web and iOS/Android applications
  • Passion for solving complex problems and translating them into simple, effective design solutions
  • Ability to research, implement and report in an articulate, professional manner
  • Proficient in using data and insights to drive design decisions
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Professional written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • A creative eye, good imagination, and vision
  • Firm foundation in understanding user-centered design principles
  • Knowledge and experience resolving accessibility and ADA compliance issues a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills to work in an agile development process
  • Collaborate closely with members of a cross-functional development team
  • Solid understanding of front-end languages such as HTML/CSS/JavaScript a plus
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities
