School District Website Inspiration: February 2026
Connor Gleason

District websites don’t get the luxury of serving a single audience. On any given day, they need to support a kindergartener on their first day, a family looking for bus updates, a community member checking a board agenda, and many more.

That’s why this collection of district website launches is so interesting to review: each one shows how modern design can make everyday tasks faster while still telling a bigger story about learning, opportunity, and community.

In the spotlights below, we’re looking at the latest Finalsite launches, what’s working across content, user experience, and design, and which ideas might be worth borrowing for your own redesign. Find your inspiration below!

Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation

As Indiana’s third-largest district, EVSC’s new launch strikes a nice balance between storytelling and the day-to-day tasks families, students, staff, and community members need to complete quickly. It’s a combination of a motion-forward design, plus a service-first experience for its 40 schools.

The homepage uses video in multiple sections to keep the scroll feeling lively, then anchors that motion with content blocks that point to key district advantages. You’ll see highlights such as 32 AP courses, early learning programs, and state-champion sports teams for families who are still exploring options.

A big win in the user experience is how the site is organized around audiences. “Students” and “Families” aren’t buried, and on the Families landing page, EVSC turns common needs into card-style links that help reduce calls and emails for:

  • Before/after school care
  • Bus transportation
  • Closings and delays
  • Family, community, and student support services
  • Parent portal, meals, and volunteering

The Careers page is a standout for its fast facts that help job seekers size up EVSC quickly, such as its 3,400+ employees, 1,500+ teachers, and 62% of whom hold advanced degrees. It also includes embedded social posts (“Connect with Us”), which is helpful for candidates who want a feel for district culture.

Consistency across district and school sites

EVSC’s “Our Schools” directory makes it easy to jump from the district to individual school sites. For example, click into a school like F.J. Reitz High School, and you’ll see a similar structure and navigation approach, but a site with its own identity.

That consistency is where districts often win back time. When a small web team supports many buildings, reusable layouts and shared components help keep updates aligned and brand standards steady.

Pages and features worth checking out

  • Technology page: a strong full-width treatment, with district-wide context (including the 1:1 device story)
  • Courses & Curriculum: image-based tiles that work like “image buttons” to guide visitors into key content areas
  • A custom, playful 404 experience (a small touch that keeps visitors moving when they hit a dead link)

Utica Community Schools

Utica Community Schools’ redesigned site feels fresh and modern, with plenty of white space and subtle background gradients that help each section feel distinct as you scroll.

One of the strongest homepage moments is Portrait of a Graduate. Instead of keeping the district’s “why” in a strategic plan PDF, UCS brings it into the main browsing experience with the values and supporting language, including Character, Contributor, Collaborator, Communicator, Creator, and Critical Thinker.

UCS reinforces its commitments through “Culture of…” statements (Empowerment, Caring, Transformation). It’s a simple structure that helps visitors understand what the district is working toward, and not only what it currently offers.

Design choices that help the experience flow

UCS blends imagery into the hero and content panels, then uses consistent panel layouts to keep the page moving. The site feels easy to browse, especially as visitors move between big themes (learning pathways, mission, graduate profile) and other actions like joining the team.

  • On mobile, the menu structure is built for scanning, grouping content into categories (About, Departments, Academics & Programs, Families & Community, Staff & Careers), which helps visitors find the right area.

  • The Employment page points candidates directly to job postings and frames why someone might want to work in the district (and there's a lot!)

  • The district calendar is designed to support both quick checks and longer planning, with multiple downloadable district calendars available on the calendar page.

  • Full-width card-style storytelling and custom tabs: The Value of a UCS Education (tabbed sections like “Future Driven”): Why UCS

Ontario-Montclair School District

Ontario-Montclair School District’s new website pairs a welcoming look and feel with the kind of navigation that busy families rely on.

At the top, OMSD puts high-traffic links within easy reach: Calendar, Students, Employment, Enrollment, Find My School, School Maps, Campus Safety, and Resources, plus a site-wide Translate option through Weglot.

A “News & Social” flyout adds a nice layer of convenience: visitors can pop open the latest updates without leaving the page, then toggle between News and Instagram (with direct links to “View All News” and the Events Calendar).

As you scroll, OMSD moves from big-picture messaging into “District Highlights” that feature student, parent, and community spotlights. It’s a strong way to share pride points while keeping the page moving.

Design details that add character

Two design touches stand out for personality: the full-width visual treatments that break up sections, and the footer artwork, which includes a landscape silhouette and an animated plane element—wonderful!

Resource hubs that support families all year

For day-to-day support, the Parent Resources area acts like a resource gallery, grouping department links (Athletics & Activities, Curriculum & Instruction, Food & Nutrition, Special Education, and more) in one place.

Check out these elements

  • Testimonials-style highlights: Student & Community highlight sections
  • Icon buttons / quick access links: Header quicklinks & flyouts
  • Custom resource gallery: Parent Resources “Welcome” hub
  • Footer detail with animation: Homepage footer

As shared by the district:

Over the past year, our District has engaged in a thoughtful and collaborative process to reimagine how our digital platforms serve students, staff, families, and the broader community. Our goal was to create a website experience that is visually modern, easy to use, and reflective of the outstanding work taking place across our schools and District.

This redesign centers on the diverse communities we serve. Each of our 34 school websites provides a clear, engaging, and user-friendly experience while maintaining consistency across the District. These websites allow schools to highlight their unique identity, including school colors, mascots, and community traditions, as well as their programs and achievements, while ensuring families have easy access to timely and relevant information.

The District website complements this work by organizing department pages that connect families and staff to District resources, services, and support. Together, these websites create a cohesive digital experience that strengthens communication, transparency, and engagement across our school community.

In keeping with our commitment to serving a diverse and global community, the website offers multilingual translation support. While formerly we have individually translated documents from English to Spanish, this new website will automatically translate the entire webpage. We are currently exploring additional language capacity. Additionally, our website and social media strategies are aligned to provide cohesive and up-to-date information across platforms, allowing us to more effectively share stories, celebrate successes, and communicate important updates.

Congrats!

Waterloo Schools

Waterloo’s new district site represents one of Iowa’s largest districts, serving nearly 11,000 students, with advanced programming from preschool through grade 12.

The homepage puts key actions front and center, including Enroll, Careers, Schools, Calendar, and Events, so visitors can move quickly from “I’m here to browse” to “I’m here to do something.”

Design-wise, Waterloo leans into a confident brand system. The district’s “Unfolding Futures” identity (and its wave/book-inspired mark) shows up as a consistent visual motif, supported by a lively secondary palette (magentas, blues, greens) that adds energy and brightness.

One of the strongest storytelling moves is the “Flip the Script” series, which spotlights student and staff experiences in a testimonial-forward format. It’s a nice model for districts that want to show growth and progress through their voices, and not only announcements.

Congrats on the launches and the start of something special!
