Eden Prairie Schools’ new website is one of the more creative and character-rich district sites we've seen in a while. With a design that’s as thoughtful as it is energetic, the site offers an experience that reflects the spirit of a district where students are inspired every day.

What sets this site apart is its personalized approach to navigation. Using a dynamic flywheel interface, users are guided to pathways based on their role, whether they’re a current family, future family, student, alum, partner, or community member. It’s a fresh way to connect different audiences with the information that matters most to them.

The homepage invites exploration, from a rotating slideshow of highlights to a filterable "News to Know" section that keeps families updated across topics and schools. Key school dates are featured toward the bottom, with a clean design and color interactions that bring subtle movement and emphasis as you scroll.

A navigation panel on the right-hand side allows users to search, translate content, explore individual schools, and connect with the district, making it both functional and inclusive.

  • Social media integration brings energy to the user experience, with real-time updates from Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, paired with points of differentiation that reinforce the district’s focus on growth and community connection.

  • The site is fully optimized for mobile users, with a hamburger menu that opens into a clean, condensed navigation, complete with quick links to essential portals and resources. A “Find It Fast” section with intuitive icons helps users move quickly across the site for an experience that’s both functional and engaging.

  • Each individual school site within the district follows a consistent layout while allowing room for personality. Through customized colors and branding, schools can express their identity while staying connected to the district’s overall look and feel.

  • The District News section is another highlight as a platform for sharing achievements and updates from around the community. It's a great example of how the site supports EMS ISD’s mission: to instill a passion for continuous achievement in every student and every school.

“We wanted the new website to feel easier, safer, and more helpful for all users,” said Executive Director of Communications Megan Overman in a recent news post. “It’s more than a facelift; it’s a redesign with our community in mind, with streamlined navigation and specific elements designed for our various customers to enhance their online experiences.”

Key updates include:

  • A slimmer menu structure for cleaner navigation.
  • A top-of-page “Find It Fast” feature for frequently accessed content.
  • Quick-link buttons for the most-accessed tools including Skyward, Canvas Observer, SchooLinks, and Let’s Talk!
  • Improved security: Many pieces of student and staff specific information now live in login-required platforms for added layers of protection for students, staff, and schools.
  • A district events calendar that users can customize to specific schools, athletic and/or fine arts programs, and district events, and that can be downloaded via iCal functions to your personal devices – it's your calendar, your way.

The new platform also places a spotlight on what makes EMS ISD special: world-class educators, personalized student opportunities, and a supportive family culture."

Congratulations to the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw team on a site that brings pride, clarity, and connection to the forefront!

Kearney district website mockup on laptop

Kearney Public Schools

Kearney Public Schools just launched a site that puts people and purpose first, positioning its students as problem-solvers, engaged citizens, and compassionate leaders. The new design strikes a great balance between community connection and ease of use, built with thoughtful features that speak directly to families, staff, and students.

Visitors are welcomed with quick access to essential tools and updates. Lunch menus, community events, and news stories are all front and center as the district news pulls in highlights from across schools—academic achievements, school board updates, and key announcements—all presented in a clean, digestible format.

Design-wise, the site feels fresh and approachable. Rounded content boxes and circular design elements create a softer, more familiar feel. Subtle animations bring icons and CTAs to life as users hover, while the use of cursive typography adds a creative, welcoming touch.

There's a lot to explore, but be sure to take a look at some of these highlights:

  • Sticky navigation keeps important tools within reach at all times, doubling as quick links to platforms like Synergy, Clever, and Canvas.
  • The Spotlight section focuses on what makes Kearney shine, like academics, the arts, athletics, and student activities.
  • Social media integration also brings in the latest updates from Facebook, helping families stay connected to what’s happening across the district.
  • The Staff Celebration section of its Employment page regularly spotlights teachers and administrators making a difference.

And as shared by the district:

“... We are always reaching higher. We ask our students, faculty, and staff to push boundaries—to imagine bigger, work smarter, and become the best versions of themselves. So, when we looked at our own website, we asked: Why shouldn’t we do the same?

Driven by community feedback and guided by an updated brand message, we reimagined our website to better reflect who we are, what we value, how we serve, and why families choose Kearney Public Schools.

Every decision was made with functionality, user experience, and accessibility in mind.

WE ARE STORYTELLERS.
We believe in sharing the heart of KPS. That’s why our new website is mobile-first, media-rich, and built around the people and stories that make our district shine. Like our community, it’s forward-thinking, bold, and unapologetically proud of who we are.

WE ARE ACCESSIBLE.
Everyone deserves access to great content. With Finalsite’s support, we prioritized accessibility—ensuring all visitors can view and engage with our resources, no matter their device or abilities. Languages can be selected in the upper right corner.  This summer we are working on making our new site accessible to everyone.

WE ARE USER-FOCUSED.
We’ve made it easier to find what you need, with improved menus, a simplified interface, and with quick access to top pages like Lunch Menus, Calendars, and Search. Designed with over 50% of our users on mobile, our compact toolbar, large fonts, and smart layout support seamless, one-handed browsing.

WE ARE EVOLVING.
This redesign is just one more way we strive to lead with excellence—just like our educators, students, and community members do every day.

Broward County Public Schools

As the sixth-largest school district in the U.S., Broward County Public Schools' (BCPS) website now matches the scale, energy, and vision of its community. With more than 230 individual school pages alongside a redesigned district site, it's one of the more comprehensive and ambitious transformations we've seen in recent past.

Rooted in BCPS’s commitment to becoming more innovative and responsive to evolving needs, the site offers a experience that captures the district’s mission to educate today’s students to "succeed in tomorrow’s world."

The homepage is both welcoming and practical. A dynamic video montage replaces the expected classroom shots with scenes of rocket launches, robotics competitions, performances, and team spirit, capturing what engaged, hands-on learning looks like in action.

Quick links guide users to key resources like mental health services, school menus, career opportunities, district news, and synced school calendars.

Take a closer look at:

  • The BCPS Proud section highlights the people who make the district special, with inspiring profiles of students, staff, and community members. Meanwhile, the Newsroom offers regular updates on everything from summer programs to scholarship wins, giving families a clear pulse on district-wide achievements.

  • One-click translation powered by Weglot makes the site easily accessible in Spanish, helping BCPS serve its multilingual community.

  • For those new to the district, sections dedicated to students, staff, families, and the wider community provide streamlined access to wellness resources, academic support, and ways to stay connected, a one-stop hub for all things BCPS.

  • The district’s mobile app, BCPS Connect, adds another layer of functionality by offering families real-time updates on student progress and important alerts, all from their phone.

Congratulations to BCPS and all the other districts on launching sites that are not only impressive in scale, but also in their ability to create stronger connections every day!
