School District Website Inspiration: September 2024
Hailey Smith

The 2024-25 school year is in full swing, and even though September is a busy month, districts across the country have found time to create beautiful and user-friendly website designs for their communities.

These new sites do a fantastic job of highlighting each district's unique story and mission, so let’s review Finalsite's latest collection of standout public school district website designs!

Baldwin Union Free School District

The “future-focused” district is marking the launch of its new website this September, and with improved usability and a mobile-first design, Baldwin has a lot to celebrate.

After extensive research and feedback from stakeholders and families, the district’s responsive site lets users enjoy the same great user experience regardless of their device.

Highlights include:

  • The “What’s Bruin in Baldwin” section—cleverly spelled “B R U I N” to match the school mascot, shares stories and updates from throughout the district, followed by the signature programs that bring an extra jolt of energy to the page.

  • A wealth of information about the district and resources for families and students, all neatly organized into its interior pages with accordions and column layouts.

  • For non-English speaking families and users, Weglot, Finalsite’s preferred translation partner, can translate page content into several different languages with just a click.

  • Families and staff can now enjoy a consistent browsing experience between the district’s school sites, each having undergone a full redesign to help ensure a seamless user experience and access to important school-related information.

Osseo Area Schools

Osseo Area Schools revamped their website with the goal of creating a clean, photo-driven design and an improved navigation system. Mission accomplished!

The new site features consistent branding at both the district level and all 31 school sites, and each page packs a punch—it’s a wonderful example of how much of an impact great photography can have on a site. Its colorful imagery is full of smiling faces of students and staff, and you can get a sense of the energy and spirit of its community.

Impactful Design

  • From the moment you land on the homepage, you’re welcomed with the district’s inspiring message: “Find Your Path. Dream. Explore. Discover.”

  • The homepage also features a vibrant carousel of images showcasing smiling students, creating a friendly and inviting experience right from the start.

Improved Navigation

  • The new website, along with all school-level sites, includes a quick links library and sliders showcasing district and school-level programs. Additionally, the team has reorganized the pages to create a more intuitive experience for users. Nice job!

Argo Community High School

Argo Community High School, home of the Argonauts, recently launched its newly redesigned website, opening with drone footage above the beautiful high school building.

Scroll down, and there’s a selection of mobile-friendly icons that make essential information easy to access, such as the directory, registration information, and the district’s information system.
Below that, recent news, the district calendar, and integrated social media posts from the district’s Instagram account collect the updates and happenings around the district.

The school’s homepage highlights its mission of empowering students to build a positive future, an idea supported by a warm welcome from graduate and Superintendent Dr. Toulios. Congrats on the launch!

Newark City Schools

Newark City Schools, located 30 miles east of Columbus, Ohio, redesigned its website to make important information easier to find with fewer clicks while also making the site easier to maintain and update.

You're welcomed with drone footage of their sports complex, which transitions to a carousel of images that highlight the heart of the community. The photos feature smiling students engaged in various activities and community events that emphasize the school's close-knit, inclusive spirit that draws in visitors.

Searchability

One of the additions to their site is the quicklinks section, which allows users to access the most popular content on the site easily. The search bar also allows visitors to find exactly what they need quickly with a keyword search.

Staying Connected

The new site is designed with the community in mind, offering easy access to the integrated calendar, news, and social media feeds, ensuring that users stay connected with the latest updates. Newark City Schools has also focused on mobile optimization, making the site user-friendly across all devices for users on the go.

Congratulations to all the districts that went live with their new websites this September!
