Scholarship Prep Public Schools

Building a Website for Growth

Scholarship Prep Public Schools has always carried a big mission: to create community change through a trauma-informed, culturally responsive public charter school system that serves all students, including those experiencing homelessness.

Across five Southern California campuses, the TK-8 network serves over 2,300 students from richly diverse backgrounds, including a student body that’s 93% students of color and nearly one-third English learners.

Many Scholarship Prep families also face significant barriers, with 88% of students experiencing economic hardship and 19% navigating housing instability, foster care, or both.

The charter’s mission needed a website experience with the same clarity, care, and ambition as the schools themselves.

Scholarship Prep shows up differently. Its network of public charter schools is five campuses strong across Southern California, with 270 staff members serving over 2,300 TK-8 Scholars and their families. Its campuses exist for the students who need them most: kids experiencing homelessness, navigating foster care, or those who need a small community school that cares for and meets their needs.

Prospective families needed easier ways to learn about the charter network, schedule a campus visit, and connect with staff. Current families still needed a clear way to see what before- and after-school care, counseling services, and community resources were available to them.

Meanwhile, prospective employees needed to see the network’s purpose in action, and community partners and donors needed to understand how far Scholarship Prep has come and where their support could make the biggest difference.

For Rachel Foy, strategic communications coordinator at Scholarship Prep, the website had to do two things at once: tell the story of a growing regional charter network and give each campus a place to serve its own families, every day.

“Finalsite delivered on both,” Rachel said.

A Mission Ready for a Stronger Digital Presence

As Scholarship Prep expanded throughout the years, its digital footprint had to grow with it. The network needed one cohesive brand for the district-level story, along with campus sites that addressed the needs of individual families across Southern California.

The stakes were high. Scholarship Prep’s website is often the first stop for families exploring options for a school where their child can feel known, supported, and prepared; an on-ramp for a brighter college-and-career-bound future and educational success.

Additionally, the site serves staff, donors, and community partnerships who need to quickly understand the network’s impact across Southern California.

One Network, Five Campus Communities

“As the communications coordinator, I needed a platform that could hold that structure seamlessly without losing a cohesive brand experience, and a team that understood that vision from the start,” Rachel shared.

Scholarship Prep also needed the website to reflect its comprehensive support model. For many families, school choice is tied to access, and Scholarship Prep was built with that in mind. Free before- and after-school care, school supplies, family resources, and dedicated support for students experiencing homelessness or foster care aren't add-ons; they're part of how the network defines who it exists to serve.

Rachel needed a platform and partner that could support that structure without creating extra complexity for its families and its staff managing the sites.

A Website Built for Access

Working with Finalsite, Scholarship Prep planned, built, and launched a custom website experience that mirrors the network’s mission and momentum, upgrading the site’s functionality, messaging, and design.

“Finalsite guided me through every decision, never hesitated when our ideas required custom solutions, and built something that speaks clearly to every audience we serve, from prospective families and staff to philanthropic partners and our authorizers,” Rachel said.

The site design balances energy and organization from the start. The homepage opens with the aspirational messages “Reach Higher” and “Dream Bigger,” then carries that inspiration through bright visuals, full-width panels, big images, custom icons, and slideshows that make the mobile-friendly experience engaging and personable.

A desktop monitor displays a school website with a large hero image of students on a basketball court, while a laptop in front of it shows the website's news articles.

But Scholarship Prep’s mission is also rooted in access, and its website needed to represent that same commitment.

With a Weglot integration to translate multilingual content in just one click, and AudioEye supporting an even more accessible user experience, the site now helps more families engage with important information in the way that works best for them. That added layer of support is especially valuable for a network serving diverse families across Southern California.

The website has also become a reliable foundation for ongoing storytelling. Scholarship Prep’s homepage features current news, calendar updates, and social connections that show the life of the network in real time, from mental health awareness events and community wellness days to student celebrations and resources to free vision care and family literacy nights.

That accessible and user-friendly design approach helped Scholarship Prep earn recognition as an Outstanding Website from the Web Marketing Association.

Growing with Confidence

“Having a platform built to scale with us has meant that growth is something we can move into confidently, not scramble to keep up with,” Rachel said.

“Families now arrive for campus tours already informed about how we serve students,” Rachel said. “Prospective staff reach out ready to join us in creating community change. Partners and donors can see immediately where they fit in.”

A Website That Carries the Story Forward

Scholarship Prep’s website now shows the full scope of its mission: a charter school network built for the students who need it most, hopeful, compassionate, welcoming, and growing wherever that need is greatest. It also gives Rachel’s team a platform that can keep pace with the school’s growth.

  • Since launching with Finalsite, Scholarship Prep has opened two additional schools and expanded into new Southern California counties.

  • Enrollment at the network of schools has grown by roughly 45% over the past five years to more than 2,300 students.

Across the network:

  • Families inquire with a stronger understanding of Scholarship Prep’s mission and services.
  • Staff candidates are reaching out with a clearer sense of the community they hope to join.
  • Partners and donors are seeing how they can support the network’s mission.

“Finalsite’s platform has been a dependable workhorse since its launch date,” Rachel said, citing “no downtime,” a responsive support team, and continuous back-end improvements that help keep our network of schools moving forward.

As Scholarship Prep continues to grow, its websites can grow with it. With Finalsite, the network has a flexible platform that supports both its broader organizational story and the distinct needs of each campus community.

That scalability gives Rachel and the Scholarship Prep team the confidence to expand, making an impact in more communities and helping families see what's possible when students are encouraged by caring adults, strong support systems, and schools built around what they need to thrive.
