Felsted’s Website Mission
An independent co-educational day and boarding school in Essex founded in 1564 by Richard Rich, (one of Henry VIII’s most powerful and infamous nobles) Felsted has a very forward thinking approach to its marketing. The school’s strategy is driven by Sophy Walker, Director of Marketing, ably assisted by Jack Dougherty, who as Website Communications Officer curates much of the digital content delivered by the school.
The team felt that it was time to update their website, as it had ‘become a bit of a monster’, with a vast amount of content, some of which was duplicated. The purpose of the project was to support their strategy which had been to position Felsted as one rather than three separate schools.
Jack stated: "We were impressed with Finalsite’s technology and the expertise brought to the table. The additional modules, not third party products, are designed and developed in-house, which is always reassuring". Sophy added ‘Other companies simply did not offer both the gravitas and capability that Finalsite delivers’.

Felsted School offers children aged four to eighteen a first class all round education, based on a safe, rural 80 acre village campus in stunning North Essex.
Felsted welcomes students from all over the world to appreciate a leading British boarding school education, plus offer day and a range of flexible boarding options to suit modern family life, with daily bus routes from across the region.
Founded in 1564, Felsted will celebrate 50 years of co-education in 2020.

Winning a dotComm Platinum Award!
Attracted by the award winning portfolio Finalsite showcases, the team at Felsted felt that they were future-proofing their investment by selecting Finalsite. “Our experience was that Finalsite worked with us to create something that was unique to us". In fact shortly after launch, the Felsted School website won a platinum award (the highest award achievable) in the internationally acclaimed dotComm awards!
A Collaborative and Thought Provoking Process
Due to their extensive rebrand, Felsted began the design process armed with their brand guidelines and with a razor sharp vision of what they wanted to communicate. However, Jack explained that ‘Finalsite challenged us on our design ideas, steered us in the right direction and used their expertise to create a site which supported our school’s look and feel, but stood out from the competition’.
Jack explained that the move to Finalsite’s Composer CMS was seamless. "The real improvements have been that you can simply do more with the website, you can change layouts and test different options easily. It has opened the doors for us to be more creative in crafting engaging and aesthetically pleasing website pages.”
